Whitefish Independent High School

Principal’s Message

Since our beginning in December 1999, Whitefish Independent High School has continued to serve students with an alternative secondary educational approach. Nearly one hundred students have earned a Whitefish High School diploma and have begun their lives in the work world, the military, and in post-secondary education as young citizens.

A constant in the school has been the establishment of a culture that promotes a safe, secure, guided, and nurturing learning environment. The basic premise of the school has been a dedication to educating students entering this program with credit deficiencies, and culminating in their graduation from high school.

The Independent High School itself is viewed as a teacher. Students learn not only from the instruction offered, but from the implicit lessons as well--the ways adults and young adults treat each other, set priorities, and make decisions.
